The Capuchos Convent is a former convent of the Order of San Francisco that is located in the protected landscape area of the Costa de Caparica Fossil Cliff, in the municipality of Almada, and from which you can observe not only the Costa de Caparica, its extensive beach coast and even the surroundings, as if you can still see a splendid landscape of the Lisbon Coast, Estoril and Cascais. This convent was built by Lourenço Pires de Távora in 1558.

The Costa da Caparica (or Costa de Caparica, as it is sometimes called, although, after much debate, it has been officially decided that it is even Costa da Caparica) is an uninterrupted sand of about fifteen kilometers long. It is only half of a coast thirty kilometers south of Lisbon, which also includes Praia do Meco and other beaches of Sesimbra. The beaches of Caparica are the destination of choice for Lisboners on a hot summer day.
