The Ecovia do Vez runs along the Lima and Vez Rivers, with a total length of 32.5 kms. In Lima: on the right bank, from the municipal limit, in Jolda S. Paio to the place of Gândara, parish of Santar, passing through the parishes of Padreiro and Távora, where Quinta de Padreiro and Quinta da Toural are located, respectively. On the Vez: on the right bank, bordered to the north by the village of Sistelo and to the south by the place of Prova, parish of Paço. The ecovia offers conditions for its use in complete respect for the environment, giving back to the inhabitants this space of unparalleled quality. The project took into account the representativeness that a route of this type can have in the municipality, as well as its relationship with the peripheral landscape, promoting the safeguarding of the existing cultural and architectural heritage, as well as ecological and landscape values. It was decided to implement an essentially rural or natural route, despite the existence of some sections in urban areas, a situation that diversifies its potential users. Along the walk, you will pass by the silent mouth of the Vez, walk along secular sidewalks, cross the village of Arcos de Valdevez, cross walkways that take us to places otherwise inaccessible and with stunning landscapes, cross the Medieval Bridge of Vilela, pass next to water mills, get to know the mouth of the Cabreiro river, cool off on one of the several river beaches, admire the various man-made dams and fishing grounds, and finish the walk on the terraces of Sistelo, candidates for UNESCO world heritage, one of the 7 wonders of Portugal, all in full contact with nature. The Ecovia do Vez, which can be easily done with the family, has several access points which makes it possible to carry out small daily sections, and is even advisable given its extension. In terms of difficulty, only the final section next to Sistelo presents some difficulty, as there are some slopes, but nothing that is not rewarded by the magnificent surroundings.
